Brefni were engaged by Acciona to reconfigure the intersection at Alison Road and Darley Road, Randwick. This intersection was redesigned to accommodate the light rail crossing over Alison Road. Brefni used a staged process to enable the intersection to remain fully operational.
Challenges faced by the project included;
- Working around a high volume of pedestrian and vehicular traffic
- Maintaining access to Centennial Park and Randwick Racecourse
- Identifying, maintaining and relocating existing utilities
- Utilising specialist compaction techniques to avoid damage to major Sydney water supply pipeline
- Excavation and removal of contaminated materials
- Noise restrictions
- Working around the clock to complete an accelerated program
- Offsite manufacturing precast components
- Dealing with potential archeological finds
- Dealing with stakeholder expectations
