Due to the construction of the Sydney Light Rail an 8,000m2 at grade carpark was constructed at Randwick Racecourse. This was a live operational racing environment where works had to be planned around maintaining access for horses to do daily track work.

Brefni was contracted to perform the works which included:

• Preliminary and proprietary works
• Stakeholder engagement including liaising with TfNSW, Laing O’Rourke and the Australian Jockey Club
• Reclassification of and innovative treatment of contaminated materials on site to allow for them to be incorporated in the works
• The installation of a drainage system up to and including pit connecting to pipe jacking stormwater tracks under live race track
• Earthworks, including bulk cut / fill, subgrade trim, base and subbase installation
• Extensive paving, kerbing, line marking
