Advanced Staging Techniques to Deliver on Time with Minimal Rail Possessions
Brefni completed this project with only four rail closedowns instead of the anticipated six. To achieve this, we staged the works to complete the platform reconstruction and the ULX in the same possession, reducing the need for additional possessions. Brefni further accelerated the program by negotiating with local farmers over the use of their land (see below) and strategic hour-by-hour programming. We were able to reduce the program by six months.

External Stakeholder Management, Including ARTC, for Successful Delivery
This project required the management of several external stakeholder bodies including ARTC (to National Rail Safety standards) and a number of private property agreements with local farmers and property owners. Brefni liaised and acquired land from the existing landowners under a land deed for a 12-month period to provide access due to restricted site space. We did this by meeting with the landowners, identifying areas of concern for them and mitigating these risks.

Further, the works were located within the ARTC rail corridor, for which Brefni managed access through ARTC’s third party access licence.
