Flemington Station Concourse and Bridge Demolition

This project involved the demolition of existing concourse buildings and canopies over a number of platforms, encompassing services relocation; the construction of new covered and uncovered concourses, footbridges, lifts, stairs and platform canopies; and the refurbishment of existing platform buildings (toilets, station offices, staff facilities and communication equipment rooms).

This project involved the demolition of existing concourse buildings and canopies over a number of platforms, encompassing services relocation; the construction of new covered and uncovered concourses, footbridges, lifts, stairs and platform canopies; and the refurbishment of existing platform buildings (toilets, station offices, staff facilities and communication equipment rooms).

In addition to platform resurfacing, Brefni completed a number of electrical and ATV works, including station power supply upgrades, lighting adjustments, augmentation of station communication systems, and modifications to passenger information systems and ticketing.

Interfacing with utilities providers and external stakeholders
This project required Brefni to work with a number of system operators for electrical, station communication and ticketing systems works to ensure correct programming, smooth commissioning and effective integration with existing systems. Key external stakeholders included local council, Transport for NSW, Sydney Trains and Laing O’Rourke.

All works completed within 48 hours
These works were completed during a 48-hour rail closedown. Detailed planning and sequencing, contingency planning and go/no go workshops with the client ensured all risks were identified and a plan was in place to deal with anything that eventuated. Works were completed four hours ahead of program, allowing early hand back of the track.
